Made He a Woman

An adaptation of Efrat Tilma's biography
At age 70, Efrat serves as a volunteer police officer in Tel Aviv, her transgender identity unknown to her fellow officers. Her carefully constructed world begins to unravel when her close friend – another trans woman – is brought in for questioning one night. As Efrat witnesses her colleagues' discriminatory treatment of her friend, she's forced to confront the past she's spent a lifetime concealing.

This powerful drama moves between different periods of Efrat's life, offering an intimate portrait of an extraordinary woman's journey. Through innovative staging, multiple actors portray Efrat at various ages, weaving together the complex tapestry of her experiences. Based on the life of Tilma, a celebrated LGBTQ+ activist who was named a Tel Aviv-Yafo Distinguished Citizen in 2019 and recognized as one of BBC's 100 Most Influential People in 2022.
